What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a holistic energy treatment and a healing art that originates in Japan and is used around the world as an alternative complementary medicine. Reiki was developed by Dr Usui in the early 20th century, it is pronounced ray-key. Reiki does not involve manipulation of your body, but instead relies on light touch with the hands, or with the hands touching your energy field over the body. The hands are placed in certain positions that correlate with the major systems and organs of the body as well as certain energy centers.

During a reiki session the practitioner aims to change and balance the energy fields in and around your body to help on a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual level.

Reiki can deliver effective relief from:

  •  Stress

  • Exhaustion

  • Anxiety

  • Boost immune system

  • Help with digestion

  • Insomnia

  • Pain

  • Grief and trauma

  • Loss of focus or clarity

  • Low energy

  • Emotional imbalances

Reiki energy can feel warm and soothing, cool and refreshing, or you may experience tingling sensations in your body. Due to the calming nature of this therapy clients often enter a deep meditative state, or fall into a light restorative sleep during the treatment.

The number of sessions required will depend on the type of condition that is being treated. For stress, two sessions can be sufficient but for chronic conditions additional treatments maybe required. Reiki will improve the results of all medical treatment, acting to reduce negative side effects, shorten healing time, reduce or eliminate pain and stress.
